Move-in Day, Fall 2007
Even before the moon disappeared from the horizon,
more than 125 faculty, staff and students were stationed
throughout Residence Life to give a helping hand
to new freshmen and their families.
Patience is a virtue when 700 hundred first-year
students move to campus within a few hours. Many
staff members and students serve as movers and traffic
coordinators.
The Ambassadors were all smiles as they get ready
to showcase
UW-Green Bay hospitality.
Chancellor Bruce Shepard welcomed families with
a handshake and
some heavy lifting.
UW-Green Bay cross country coach Mike Kline is
always well-prepared for Campus Move-in.
“Are you kidding me?” Ambassadors thought
this trailer was headed for the Union construction
site, and were shocked when it pulled up in front
of Residence Life. “Relax,” said the
parents, “this is for three students.”
These two current students wouldn’t confess
to how they got the best
job of the day.
More than 400 students called ahead to have their
beds bunked before Move-in Day. For those that didn’t,
it was a bit of a wait in the hallway.
How do you fit a kayak in a dorm room? The answer
is you don’t.
You drop your son or daughter off at UW-Green Bay,
then take a
long-awaited vacation.
You can always count on UW-Green Bay’s pep
band members.
Move-in Day marks the final day for the family
to be together for some time. Little sisters say
good-bye to their big brother. (And, his best friend
will miss him too.)
All moved in? It’s time to pay for tuition
and parking and find some lunch before parents and
students go their separate ways.
