Watershed symposium featured
research projects, 'quiz bowl'
The Fourth Annual Watershed Symposium of the Lower Fox River Watershed Monitoring Program provided an opportunity for area high school students to interact with university faculty and other professional scientists. During the symposium March 14 at UW-Green Bay, students presented posters and presentations of the research they have been conducting in selected watersheds of the Fox River Basin. They also competed in a Jeopardy-style 'quiz bowl,' which tested their knowledge about water quality monitoring and watershed science. Students attending the symposium are from Green Bay East, Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, Appleton East, Luxemburg-Casco, Markesan and West De Pere high schools.
Students participate in a land-use role-playing exercise. For the exercise, they were divided into interest groups including property owners, developers, environmental groups and elected officials.
