UW-Green Bay honors old and new graduates at 2005 spring commencement

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay awarded degrees to the 700-student Class of 2005 on Saturday (May 14) at the University's spring commencement. Commencement speaker William Laatsch, UW-Green Bay's longest-serving faculty member, lauded the University's first graduating class — the Class of 1970 — and said it set the standard for all subsequent classes. Commencement ceremonies were moved indoors to the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts because of cool weather and a threat of showers. Instead of one traditional outdoor ceremony, two ceremonies were held to accommodate the crowd.
