'Wiretapping' as art

UW-Green Bay Art Prof. Carol Emmons was selected to present an exhibition through Jan. 19 at the Watrous Gallery of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters in Madison. The presentation is the last of the initial exhibits selected to inaugurate the gallery in Madison's new Overture Center for the Arts, and draws on both the architecture of the new building and the site's history. Among other elements, the exhibit, Surveying Desire XV: Overtures, includes headphones that allow visitors to "wiretap" two dozen vintage telephones to overhear spoken personal ads.
