Planning Sequence 2007-2009
| Phase 1: Starting the Process | |
| September/October 2007 | The Chancellor identifies University-level planning themes, issues, and priorities to be addressed in the planning process. The UPC holds its inaugural meeting to introduce members, review charge and timeline, and identify working groups. Working groups may include, for instance, the Academic Affairs Planning Committee, Capital Campaign, Facilities Planning Committee, Technology Council, Tuition Revenue Enhancement Committee, Enrollment Management Committee, or new working groups. Whenever possible, we will use existing groups. |
| Fall Semester 2007 | The Academic Affairs Planning Committee updates the academic plan. |
| December 2007 | The UPC reviews the updated academic plan, facilities plan, IT plan, campus master plan, and any others that are considered by the UPC to be of importance at this point. |
| Phase 2: Developing a University Strategic Plan | |
| January-March 2008 | The Chancellor identifies any additional, emerging University-level planning themes, issues, and priorities to be addressed, and is kept informed of planning progress. Working groups compile portions of the new University Strategic Plan, and a UPC editorial working group drafts and integrated University Strategic Plan. |
| April 2008 | UPC shares the University Strategic Plan with UWGB governance groups and the Council of Trustees, and hosts open forums for campus review and discussion. |
| May 2008 | Final editing of the 2008 University Strategic Plan. |
| June 2008 | The Chancellor endorses the University Strategic Plan and shares it with the campus community and Council of Trustees. |
| Phase 3: Using the University Strategic Plan | |
| Fall 2008 | Areas, divisions, and units prepare their 2009-10 operational plans and budgets to reflect the University Strategic Plan as well as their own area and divisional needs. |
| 2008 - 2009 and Beyond |
All Areas and Divisions of the University will do their planning for the 2009-2011 biennium based on the new University Strategic Plan, as well as emerging priorities and themes that the Chancellor may identify. The UPC will meet once a semester (or twice if needed) to review emerging issues, planning progress, and further developments in the academic plan. The UPC will continue to form smaller working groups, as needed, to address specific issues. The UPC will be expected to revisit and update/revise the University Strategic Plan every three years or so, and more often if circumstances so indicate. |
