Admissions & Scholarships
To declare a major or minor in Urban and Regional Studies, you should schedule an appointment with the Chair of the program to discuss the reason for your interest in the major, courses that you will take to complete your degree, and your career goals. Urban and Regional Studies offers two scholarships for students who have declared a major in the program.
The Frank Byrne Memorial Award is named after a founding member of the Regional Studies faculty. This award is given to the outstanding student (or students) in urban and regional studies to support their field research activity. The faculty in Urban and Regional Studies makes the award decision.
The Ismail Shariff Scholarship Award is named after the long-time member of the Urban and Regional Studies faculty. The award is given to the outstanding student (or students) in Urban and Regional Studies who participates in research and study in the area of urban and regional economics. The faculty in Urban and Regional Studies makes the award decision.
