Kumar KangayappanKumar Kangayappan (MA in Economics, Annamalai University, India, 1958; PhD in Agricultural Economics, University of Wisconsin- Madison, 1968).  Micro Economic Theory, Intermediate Micro- and Intermediate Macro- Economic Theory, Money and Banking, Economics of Land Use.  

Dr, Kangayappan joined the UW-Green Bay faculty in September, 1968.  He teaches courses in the departments of Economics and Urban and Regional Studies. As an integral part of courses taught, students have completed applied research field studies in Northeast Wisconsin.  He has also served as Visiting Professor of Economics at the National Institute of Bank Management in Bombay, India.  Dr, Kangayappan's responsibilities included training top-level bank executives and conducting field research on the institutional aspects of banking in India.  He has traveled extensively in Europe, including the former Soviet Union.

Dr. Kangayappan's research on economic development, poverty, and macroeconomic theory and policy  in developing countries has been published in national and international journals including The Indian Journal of Economics and Asian Thought and Society. His Major ongoing work relates to a book on India. 

An additional area of interest is philosophy—eastern and western.  The objective is to research, understand and interpret the common elements, as well as comprehending the differences that might exist due to the respective cultural and historical contexts.
