Fields of Interests: Dr. Nesslein’s scholarly interests focus on the political economy of the capitalist welfare state, especially relating to urban and housing policy issues. He was a graduate student (1975 – 1978) at the University of Stockholm, Sweden where he was a awarded a research grant to analyze Swedish housing policy. Dr. Nesslein is the author of more than two dozen articles and book reviews published in Urban Studies, Kyklos, Journal of Regional Science, Urban Affairs Quarterly, Scandinavian Housing and Planning Research, the Encyclopedia of Public Administration and Public Policy, the Encyclopedia of Housing, and Scandinavian Studies. In 1987 Dr. Nesslein received the Donald Robertson Memorial Prize for the best article published in Urban Studies during that year, and the following year he received a similar award for the best scholarly article in Scandinavian Housing and Planning Research.
