Survey Service Limitations

Before being a survey please be aware of the known limitations of this service.

1. While Surveys can be built from a pre-existing survey and questions can be duplicated, there is no way to “import” and “export” survey questions
   
   
2. There is no way to backup or restore individual surveys.  CIT does full system database backups nightly, however, if a survey owner deletes a question, survey, or survey data, that information is permanently lost. A restore of the database would interfere with other surveys.
   
   
3. The Online Survey Service cannot be used for online quizzing. If you have online quizzing needs please use D2L.
   
   
4. Setting a start date is not enough you must also “launch or open” the survey to allow others to access it.
   
   
5. There is no way to customize the analysis report within the online suvery service. If you need custom reporting you will need to export the data to another analysis tool.
   
   
6. Questions and answers can not be fed from another database.
   
   
7. Login for surveys will not be allowed as the Online Survey Service Administrator will not be creating logins for every participant.
   
   
8. Images and other documentation used within a survey will need to be stored on a separate web share as they cannot be stored within the online survey service.
