Admissions

There are no specific admission requirements for the Women's and Gender Studies minor. To become a WGS minor, go the the Registrar's page, and complete the Declaration of Major/Minor/Certificate Form.  You will then be assigned a WGS advisor.

UWGB GLBT Scholarship

The intent of this $500 scholarship is to promote activism in support of the GLBT community.

This scholarship is open to any applicant who meets the eligibility criteria below regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, who has a demonstrable record or strong potential in support of GLBT activism.

The award committee recognizes that the actions and attitudes of those who identify as "straight allies" can have a dramatic impact on GLBT issues, and strongly encourages those students to apply.

GLBT Scholarship is administered through the Pride Center, however, there is no major/minor requirement and it is open to all who meet the criteria listed below.

Eligibility
  • Student must be enrolled for a minimum of 9 credit hours in either an undergraduate or graduate degree-granting program at UWGB at time of application
  • AND
  • hold a minimum cumulative GPA 2.5.
Selection Criteria
  • Scholarship recipients are selected on basis of demonstrated commitment to, and leadership potential in, GLBT activism.
  • Applications require a one-page essay and two letters of recommendation.
  • Essay should address student's past achievements and future goals for activism in support of GLBT populations. Examples might include, but are not limited to: holding positions of responsibility in GLBT or ally organizations; presentation or publication of academic research on GLBT issues; thesis work leading to an advancement in understanding of GLBT populations and/or issues related to those populations, community activism in support of human rights with a focus on GLBT peoples.
  • Applications are due on approximately May 1 of each year.
  • Students are encouraged to request their letters of recommendation well in advance of the deadline.
  • This scholarship does not take financial need into consideration for award.
