Educator Astronaut Information

NASA is turning the universe into a classroom... Educator Astronauts are exceptional K-12 Teachers who are chosen by NASA to switch careers and become full-time astronauts. After finishing their training, the new Educator astronauts will receive flight assignments and carry out normal astronaut duties. In fact, the first Educator Astronaut, Barbara Morgan, is currently training for upcoming Space Shuttle flight STS-118.

We offer awards in Aerospace Outreach and Special Initiatives for projects that imbue our youngest Wisconsinites with an excitement for math, science and technology through projects involving aerospace. WSGC designs, creates and supports dozens of education programs every year, serving every level from K through adult and teacher education.

The links to the left provide information about the different opportunities available through WSGC.

All submitted proposals must align with the goals and objectives of the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program. To see the National Space Grant Strategic Plan, click here.

Additionally, by NASA requirement, every proposal funded through the WSGC must clearly demonstrate how its activities align with the goals of one or more NASA Directorates and/or Centers. Partnering with NASA Centers where appropriate is also strongly encouraged. For an overview of the goals of the NASA Directorates as of May 25, 2005, click here.
