Astronomy/Space Science
Curriculum Ideas for Grades K-4, 5-8 and 9-12
Introduction
This Astronomy/Space Science curriculum is intended to help educators update
their Space Science Curriculum. The materials presented for the various grade
groups can be a stand-alone curriculum that will meet the State Academic
Standards for Science. The material may also be integrated into an individual’s
existing curriculum to update or enhance a Space Science presentation. The
majority of the materials selected for this curriculum are from NASA
publications that can be downloaded easily and are free. This NASA curriculum is
rich in activities that lead to learning through doing and interpretation. This
curriculum has limited textbook materials for student reading. Since the WSGC is
funding this curriculum development idea, it wants students to receive the most
current and up to date NASA materials. These NASA materials should excite and
inspire the next generation of students into careers in Science, Math,
Engineering and Technology.
