What Kind of Information Can I Find in a Probate File?

Probate case files generally consist of documents pertaining to the settling of a person’s estate upon their death. Typical documents include:

  • Wills
  • List of property owned
  • Heirs (names, family connections, etc.)
  • Distribution of property/assets
  • Settlements of debts

Does Everyone Have a Probate File?

No. Many people die without a will or do not have any assets to distribute upon their death.
