Dawn Klockow

Trainer - Attorney

Dawn has 15-years’ experience working in county government as an attorney.  Following graduation from law school she began her career in public service as an assistant corporation counsel in Dodge County, followed by an appointment as corporation counsel in Calumet County. She is currently the corporation counsel for Green Lake County.  As an attorney for the interest of the public under Wis. Stat. §51.20(4), Dawn understands the balance between personal autonomy and protecting individuals in need of treatment.  Dawn has extensive experience trying involuntary mental commitment cases (Ch. 51).  She also assists the Green Lake County Adult Protective Services unit with filing and prosecuting guardianship (Ch. 54) and protective placement (Ch. 55) cases, WATTS reviews, guardian removal and Adult at Risk Injunctions.  She often counsels county behavioral health staff on the interplay between Chs. 51, 54 and 55 and how the statutes can work together to solve interesting legal questions and issues facing clients of behavioral health units in county government.  Dawn volunteers with the Wisconsin Bar Wills for Heroes Program and enjoys judging the High School Mock Trial regional tournament. She also volunteers as a judge for the Beaver Dam, WI Teen Court program.
