Black medick is a common and abundant alien species in lawns and a variety of disturbed sites with partial to full sun. Leaves are compound with three leaflets, similar to those of clovers, but the exposed, black fruits will distinguish black medick from the clovers. The flowers are borne in heads and the individual flowers are very small, 1.8-2.2 mm long.
