General Business Emphasis

Why General Business?

Our General Business emphasis is for students desiring broad exposure to traditional disciplines of business, but without focusing on one particular area. The student’s “core” business courses are the same as those required of all Business Administration majors. But the upper-level business requirements cut across business disciplines—including finance, management, and marketing. The General Business emphasis is particularly attractive to so-called “non-traditional” students—who grapple with the challenge of busy work and life schedules. To address the scheduling needs of such students, the required business courses are delivered, periodically, in online sections. General Business emphasis students develop understanding and skills applicable across a variety of enterprises and organizations.

What value will I get from the General Business emphasis?

General Business students are not seeking a high degree of specialization in any one area of business. Instead, they want to develop skills across business areas—such as meeting the challenges of marketing and financing a new endeavor, or managing an organization’s human resources. Also, as noted above, the availability of online delivery is a key consideration for students in this emphasis.

Who are the general business faculty?

Our general business faculty come from all business areas.
