Camp Instructor
Tom Wallestad

Professor Tom Wallestad is inspired by the diversity of visual media in the world, ranging from fine art to various subgenres. He earned a BA degree in studio arts, graphic design and theatre from UW-Green Bay and an MFA in computer graphics from Syracuse University. He is the director of the Art program and founder of the Graphic Arts major at Marian University, Fond du Lac. There he teaches graphic design, illustration, cartooning, animation, digital imaging, printmaking, multi-media and various art classes. For UW-Green Bay’s Summer Art Studio, he has taught young artists cartooning, comic book illustration and animation for over 20 years. His research of these art forms has led him to numerous national and international locations, including a sabbatical to study in Japan. As an artist, he draws on years of experience to solve visual design problems by combining digital art methods and the traditional handmade art techniques. His recent creative work includes a scenic design for a musical based on a graphic novel performed on the main stage of UW-Green Bay’s Theatre Hall.
