Web Conferencing Tool Transition Plan

The University of Wisconsin System has announced a transition plan to end our Blackboard Collaborate Ultra web conferencing service on June 30, 2021 and implement the Zoom web conferencing service in time for the Fall 2021 semester. This page outlines the important events of this web conferencing tool transition period and provides resources to help guide instructors and students through the transition.

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra End of Life

All access, including administrative access, to Blackboard Collaborate Ultra services and data in both Canvas courses and the MyUW System portal ended on July 1, 2021.

Summer 2021 Courses

Our recommendation is for instructors to use Microsoft Teams meetings for web conferencing from the beginning of the Summer 2021 term. To aid students and instructors who will be using Microsoft Teams meetings in Summer 2021, CATL has created and collected helpful resources on teaching and learning with Teams meetings.

Fall 2021 and Beyond

Starting Monday August 16, Zoom will be available to all UWGB faculty, staff, and students. For courses taught in Fall 2021 and beyond, UWGB instructors can choose to hold web conferencing sessions with either Microsoft Teams meetings or Zoom.
