Writing Support

The Learning Center provides support to all UW Green Bay students with their writing! We can help students from any major or department with any writing project. Our peer writing tutors provide assistance at any stage in the writing process, from brainstorming to final revisions.

We offer three different types of tutoring appointments to help with your writing:

A tutor and student working side-by-side

In-Person Tutoring

Do you have time in between your classes, or like working face-to-face? These 30- or 60-minute appointments take place on campus, depending on tutor availability at your campus location. In-person appointments are helpful at any stage of the writing process.

Virtual Tutoring

Can't make it to campus? These 30- or 60-minute appointments take place online via Teams or Zoom. You can share your screen with the tutor so you both can look over your brainstorming document or draft. These appointments are helpful at any stage of the writing process.

Written Feedback

Are you busy with classes and work? Submit your draft and get written feedback from a tutor! These appointments are most helpful if you have an outline or a draft ready to share with the tutor. Tutors will be able to provide feedback on 6-8 pages per appointment.

How to make an appointment

If you’d like writing support, you can make an appointment with one of our tutors by using the Navigate Student app.

In Navigate, go to the Appointments tab and click "Schedule an Appointment." You'll then select "The Learning Center" and select the type of tutoring support you would like. Find a day and time that works best with your schedule.

  • For virtual appointments, tutors will share a link to a Microsoft Teams or Zoom meeting so you can connect at your appointment start time. Keep an eye on your UWGB email account!
  • For written feedback appointments, there will be instructions from the tutor when you book your appointment. Follow those instructions for sharing your paper with the tutor and Learning Center. You do not attend these appointments in real-time. Your tutor will send their feedback to you via email.

Additional Writing Support

If a tutor is not available at the time you need an appointment, you can also access tutoring support through NetTutor. NetTutor is an online tutoring service provided by UW Green Bay to support students at their moment of need. To access NetTutor, look for "Online Tutoring" within the course navigation menu of each course within Canvas. You can drop in to meet with a tutor on-demand, make an appointment to meet at your convenience, or drop off your question or paper/essay for asynchronous feedback.  Learn how to use NetTutor.
