Bob and Jan Pum Visual Arts Endowed Scholarship

Student Type:

UW-Green Bay is a special place for Dr. Robert and Janis Pum, who both enjoyed long careers with the University. Dr. Bob Pum, a retired UWGB professor of visual arts and art education, spent 30 years on campus (1969-1999). He was a founding member of the UWGB visual art curriculum and served two terms as department chair. He led university courses including drawing, two-dimensional design, art metals/jewelry, aesthetic foundations, art in society, art education methods, and independent art studies. He devoted much of his time to assisting the state's next generation of art teachers. Jan Pum was the women's head tennis coach and athletic specialist at UWGB from 1975-2000. Jan retired in 2000 with a 0.704 winning Division I record. Other accolades include a conference championship in 1996, over 20 all-conference players, over 20 all-conference academic honors, five times Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Team Academic All American and 2 ITA Academic All American. In spring 2014, after hearing from Chancellor Thomas Harden about the dire need for scholarships at UWGB, the Pums generously stepped up to offer their financial support. This endowed scholarship will benefit students majoring in Art, with preference given to students pursuing a career in Art Education.
