Hazel E. Latsha Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

Student Type:

Louis and Susan LeCalsey, long-time friends of UW-Green Bay, established this scholarship in 2017 in loving memory of Sue’s mother, Hazel Elizabeth Latsha. Hazel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to many. She was known as a great cook and baker, and enjoyed walking, gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Hazel lived with Sue and Lou for the last eight years of her life, along with their Champion AKC Boston Terriers, including Hazel’s favorite, little Vinny. Hazel lived a vibrant 93 years, but did have several chronic health issues that she dealt with in the last 20 years of her life. Through this experience, Hazel and her family especially appreciated the importance of compassionate caregivers and nurses. It is with this in mind that the LeCalsey’s established this scholarship in Nursing, so that future nurses can carry on the history of exemplary patient care that helped Hazel.
