Wendell and Shanna Ellsworth Endowed Scholarship for Business

Student Type:

Wendell "Whitey" and Shanna Ellsworth established this endowed scholarship in 2014. They are generous philanthropists in the Green Bay community and support numerous organizations in addition to UW-Green Bay. Both are 1959 graduates of Belding High School in Belding, Michigan. Whitey spent his career in wood products manufacturing after joining U.S. Plywood Corporation in 1965. Whitey and Shanna moved to Wisconsin in 1971 when he assumed the role as plant manager of an architectural wood door operation in Algoma. When the company decided to close or sell the Algoma plant, Whitey, along with a small group of employees, purchased the plant and re-opened it under the name Algoma Hardwoods. After a successful career, Whitey retired and he and Shanna now focus on their philanthropic efforts on children and adults with challenges. This scholarship is for those who need help with education costs in the Business Administration curriculum.
