Course Description:

Green Bay and Online!

Would you like to be a cooperating teacher? This training is intended to help practicing teachers gain the knowledge and experience in the skills and procedures necessary for the effective supervision of student teachers and interns. Both the credit course and the noncredit training meet the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction provisions relating to cooperating teachers. The skills and procedures included are planning, orientation, communication, supervision, and evaluation. Information about PI 34 (the teacher licensing law that became effective August 31, 2004) will also be reviewed. Choose from THREE Enrollment Options!

One Graduate Credit ($325)


This option will provide you with in-depth training, including information about teaching and learning styles, training on conferencing techniques to utilize with your student teacher, and guidance from expert educator Helen Schaal as you develop your student teacher handbook!
  • Course Number: ED & HUD 795-6, section 7400 (#0034D)

  • Prerequisite: Graduate Standing (Must have earned a bachelor’s degree); must have computer and Internet access.

  • Schedule: This enrollment option has both an online as well as a face-to-face component. The online component of this course will begin on Monday, June 24. Participants will have until Friday, July 19, 2013 to complete this online portion of the course, which equates to five hours of online work. In addition, participants will meet face-to-face at the Green Bay Education Association Office on Thursday, July 25 (8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.), and Wednesday, August 14, 2013 (8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.).
    (The official course start and end dates for fee and grade reporting purposes are June 24 to August 20, 2013.)

  • Teacher Standards # 4, 5, 9

Noncredit Enrollment Option A -- 5-hour workshop ($75)

Note: This is the minimum training required for requesting a UWGB student teacher.
  • Program Number: #0034ND

  • Prerequisite: Must have computer and Internet access.

  • Schedule: This five-hour noncredit training is conducted entirely online. Online access will begin on Monday, June 24. Participants will have until Friday, July 19, 2013 to complete the requirements, which equates to five hours of online work.

  • Teacher Standards # 4, 5

Noncredit Enrollment Option B -- 15-hour workshop ($225)

This 15-hour noncredit option follows the same course schedule for the credit option.
