Course Description:

Would you like to be a cooperating teacher? This training is intended to help practicing teachers gain the knowledge and experience in the skills and procedures necessary for the effective supervision of student teachers and interns, including planning, orientation, communication, supervision, and evaluation. Both enrollment options meet the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction provisions relating to cooperating teachers.

Choose from TWO Enrollment Options!

One Graduate Credit ($325)


This option will provide you with in-depth training, including information about teaching and learning styles, training on conferencing techniques to utilize with your student teacher, and guidance from expert educator Helen Schaal as you develop your student teacher handbook!
  • Course Number: ED & HUD 795-6, section 7406 (#0175D)

  • Prerequisite: Graduate Standing (Must have earned a bachelor’s degree); must have computer and Internet access.

  • Schedule: This enrollment option has both an online as well as a face-to-face component. The online component of this training will begin on Monday, June 23. You will have until Friday, July 18 to complete this online portion of the class, which equates to five hours of online work. In addition, you will meet face-to-face at the Green Bay Education Association Office on Thursday, July 24 (8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) and Wednesday, August 13, 2014 (8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.).
    (The official course start and end dates for fee and grade reporting purposes are June 23 to August 19, 2014.)

  • Teacher Standards # 4, 5, 9

Noncredit ($49)

Note: This is the minimum training required for requesting a UWGB student teacher.
  • Program Number: #0175ND

  • Prerequisite: Must have computer and Internet access.

  • Schedule: This five-hour noncredit training is conducted entirely online. Online access will begin on Monday, June 23. You will have until Friday, July 18 to complete the requirements, which equates to five hours of online work.

  • Teacher Standards # 4, 5, 9
