What's unique about this major at UWGB

There are several things that make the Geoscience program at UW-Green Bay stand out:

  • We offer regular field and lab opportunities as part of our curriculum. We emphasize our focus on undergraduate students, which is not always the case at most larger institutions. Our program offers many field trips, including 3-4 day field courses each semester where we explore the geology of different locations around the Great Lakes region.
  • Our laboratories include modern petrographic microscopes and other tools. We also have an extensive rock drill core collection that allows students to see thousands of feet of regional rock layers.
  • Research is also encouraged, and there are many possible research projects that you could work on independently or with faculty. Topics include water-rock interaction, soil science, regional tectonics, fossils, geochemistry, and more. Students can participate in faculty research grants. We are always happy to discuss research opportunities with students. Please feel free to contact one of us!
