COVID Policies and Requirements

Residential Move-in Gate Testing

Letter From the Dean of Students

Excitement is mounting for your arrival on campus in a few short days. We hope you share in our enthusiasm. Much effort has been put into preparing your living space and in organizing a multitude of welcome activities to kick-off the new school year. Amongst all these preparations, we’ve also continued to monitor the impact of Covid-19 on our university community. Every effort is being made to develop processes and protocols that will work to safeguard you while you learn, live and lead on campus this fall.

At this time, students/faculty/staff have been asked to do the following when on campus:

  • Appropriately wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) when indoors or when attending large outdoor gatherings where physical distancing is not possible
  • Practice good hygiene by washing hands frequently or by using hand sanitizer with a high alcohol content
  • Monitor for Covid symptoms, self-quarantine if symptoms develop, and seek out a confirmatory test at the Wellness Center.

Knowing that the virus tends to spread more easily in congregate settings and wanting to ensure for the safety of all of our residents, the following precautions will be implemented effective immediately:

  • Residents moving to campus (August 29-31) are asked to limit move-in day helpers to one other individual. Helpers should plan to remain masked at all times when indoors.
  • All UW-Green Bay residential students who hold 2021-2022 housing contracts will be asked to complete the following BEFORE checking in to their fall assignment:
    •  File a verification of vaccination via this form. Those qualified to do so must be at least 2 weeks post final injection of a WHO-recognized vaccine. Residents who complete a vaccination verification will be emailed a confirmatory email on Friday, August 27. This email should be presented to Housing & Residential Education staff upon arrival on campus.
Or complete one of the following at the time of arrival to campus:
  • Provide a negative Covid-19 test result time-stamped no more than 72 hours pior to check-in and bearing the seal/letterhead of a recognized healthcare provider*
  • Voluntarily submit to an antigen test (free of charge) provided by UW-Green Bay that produces a negative result**

*Those who test positive on a pre-arrival test should NOT come to campus. Please call the Housing & Residential Education office at 920.465.2040 to receive guidance for isolating at home and directions for delayed move-in procedures.
**Those who test positive to an antigen test administered on campus will be referred to the UW-Green Bay Wellness Center for a confirmatory test and then moved into an isolation space in campus housing or can opt to return home until cleared to resume activities on campus. No personal belongings will be allowed to be moved into the permanent assigned space.

If you have questions about any of the above, please feel free to reach out to the Housing & Residential Education office at 920-465-2040 or by messaging housing@uwgb.edu. Thank you for your persistence in taking the steps to keep one another and your University safe and virus-free. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and know that we’re looking forward to your arrival on campus!
