Essential Job Functions

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks adjunct instructors for English Composition, a vibrant and creative first-year writing program in which instructors are granted curricular autonomy and lots of support. 

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Develop lesson plans from course curriculum.
  • Evaluate and document students' progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation and interpersonal skills development.
  • Maintain accurate records on all students, including attendance and course requirements.
  • Organize and maintain time, space, supplies, and equipment for instruction.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in English, Creative Writing, Comp/Rhet, Journalism, or related field at time of application


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching first-year writers

Conditions of Appointment

Anticipate the planning process to start August 2019, with actual course teaching in fall 2019.

Position is a part-time, temporary Academic Staff appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the University does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.

All final candidates must be asked, prior to hire, whether they have been found to have engaged in, are currently under investigation for, or left employment during an active investigation in which they were accused of sexual violence or sexual harassment.
