Working Title:  Assistant Coach (Women's Basketball)

Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Head Coach for Women's Basketball and assists the head coach with all facets of running a successful Division I program. The primary emphasis for the position is the recruitment and retention of qualified student –athletes, and maintaining compliance with all NCAA rules.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Performs coaching and recruiting duties.
  • Complies with NCAA and Horizon League rules and regulations, and department plans.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness of public relations, media relations, and people skills.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in monitoring student-athlete academic progress, retention, and graduation.
  • Assist in scouting of opponents and creation of a game plan for each game.
  • Assist in fundraising for the Women's Basketball and Athletics department.
  • Sets and accomplishes program goals.
  • Provide technical expertise and utilize sound coaching methods aimed at improving the athletic performance of student-athletes.
  • Assist with planning and supervision of in-season and out-of-season practice sessions; team and individual practices.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining discipline and control of student-athletes and program.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree at time of application
  • 3 years of basketball coaching experience
  • Ability to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification exam upon hire


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Coaching experience at the college level
  • Recruiting experience at the college level

Conditions of Appointment

This position will travel often with the Women's Basketball team. It will require night and weekend work along with traditional work hours.

Position is a full-time Limited appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s).  A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).  In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the university does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.

Salary

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
