Position Information

Working Title:  Associate Director Union Operations
UW System Title:  Assistant Director, Student Union (M)

Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Director of the University Union and is responsible for the management and leadership of the University Union’s building services, equipment and related activities. This includes management and supervision of the University Union’s daily operations, custodial, building management and event support services. Oversight includes developing plans for building and equipment upkeep and maintenance, short and long-range planning and managing budgets that support these operations. This position will also work to create a safe and inclusive environment for all UW Green Bay students.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and support for the daily operation of the University Union including all event setup and support services, daily/evening/weekend supervision, and facility safety and security.
  • Supervise, provide leadership support, and assist the Building Operations Manager and Manager of Event Services with the day-to-day operations and supervision of the student work teams including the Building Managers, Building Services Team, Reservations, and Sound/Light Technical staff.
  • Manage University Union emergency preparedness as it relates to major facility operational impacts and concerns.
  • Coordinates implementation of an inclusive and ongoing training program based on sound student development principles and current industry practices, while ensuring a superior level of customer service.
  • Oversee facility operations budget and actively contribute to long range planning.
  • Develop and implement building policies and procedures to include health and safety, key controls, inventory and space management, and emergency planning.
  • Provide leadership for physical space management; manage projects and timelines; develop strong relationship with service providers and vendors.
  • Oversee all aspects of our custodial and maintenance area for the University Union and food service locations.
  • Develop and maintain a facility management plan that ensures proper maintenance and replacement cycles.
  • Work with campus IT on AV replacements, security cameras, digital displays, etc.
  • Create and implement a staff development plan that emphases student development theory and diversity and inclusion principals.
  • Provide support for all tenants including the Phoenix Bookstore, UW Credit Union, Dining Service, and other campus departments in support of their needs, services, and programs.



  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, retail, student personnel, or other that relates to the general responsibilities of this position at time of application
  • Two years direct full-time professional experience in union operations or related field


  • Master's degree in business, management, retail, student personnel, or related field
  • Professional experience working in a Student Union
  • Participation with emergency planning

Conditions Of Appointment

Position is a full-time (100%) Academic Staff appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary range of $55,000-$65,000

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

The UW System provides an excellent benefits package, including participation in the Wisconsin State Retirement System.
