Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Executive Officer for the Division of Continuing Education & Community Engagement and demonstrates leadership in the advancements of business training and the economic viability of local and county governments throughout the State of Wisconsin, nationally, and internationally.  Through the creation of continuing education courses, academic credit, consulting, partnerships and projects, this position contributes significantly to the development of working professionals and government administrators. Provides oversight and support of by understanding industry demands and community needs. 

Provides vision and guidance for program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Supervises outreach staff for professional growth and effective project management. Monitors budget and appropriate funding for programming. Promotes stable and productive relationships between the university and community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. Utilizes technology to support training through the use of MS teams and Zoom for greater reach.

The team member will maintain a calendar of outreach to support visibility in the government and business community for UWGB. May attend community events, become involved in boards, associations, economic development organizations, or chamber groups based on need. This role will maintain contacts and partnerships at various levels of government. The role will serve in leadership of government associations to support training opportunities.  

Collaboration with campus partners to enhance offerings. Will research and develop new business initiatives that will strategically diversify fiscal revenue streams with consideration of long-term viability

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Provides recommendations for the design and development of new outreach programs and services.
  • Supervises the implementation of outreach programs, focused on strategic planning initiatives and objectives.
  • Determines outreach program needs and the personnel resource allocation plan. Monitors budget and expenditures.
  • Leadership within government and business associations to develop partnerships.
  • Develops written content for communication and promotion of activities and events.
  • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees.


  • Bachelor’s Degree at time of application
  • 3 years of experience in programming, training, or organizational development
  • Experience collaborating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Understanding adult learners and the elements of designing successful hands-on pedagogy, developing and evaluating training programs and marketing to targeted audiences
  • Experience in utilizing technology and software, especially MS teams and zoom
  • Budgeting experience (constructing, analyzing, forecasting and reconciling)
  • A valid Wisconsin driver’s license and a working vehicle to travel and ability to obtain driver authorization through the University

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience in business or government training and development
  • Experience with research and grant writing

Conditions Of Appointment

Travel to branch campus locations/communities on a regular basis. 

Position is a full-time Academic Staff appointment.  This position may have the option to work on-campus or a hybrid schedule subject to approved telecommuting request.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).


The UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. Our benefits package also includes dental, vision, several life insurance options, AD&D and Accident insurance and Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The UW System also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
