Position Information

Working Title:  Front of House & Event Supervisor
UW System Title:  Administrative Specialist

Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the General Manager and is responsible for all actions and areas that a patron will experience during their visit to the Weidner Center, advancing non-performance events at the center and manages the student workforce (Weidner PEEPs).

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Front of House operations for over 100 events per year.
  • With input from the General Manager, develop FOH protocols that incorporate best practices for safety and emergency considerations.
  • Train FOH staff and volunteers in emergency procedures with support from Public Safety and other experts.
  • Facilitate training of all required Weidner Center staff in CPR and First Aid.
  • Reconcile and oversee all monies generated by valet services, merchandise and water sales.
  • Act as a liaison for and representative of the Front of House Staff at University meetings and trainings.
  • Responsible for communicating with all onsite vendors including University caterers.
  • Act as a liaison to the Music and Theater Departments at the University to ensure front of house services are staffed for their performances.
  • Provide necessary labor numbers and merchandise sales for event settlement.
  • Oversee volunteer program to maintain a volunteer base to supplement student workforce in the roles of greeters, ushers and first aid volunteers.
  • Develop online registration tool for volunteer opportunities.
  • Oversee and troubleshoot ticket scanning equipment.
  • Responsible for opening and closing lobby area and security of area.
  • Supervising all PEEPs for events.
  • Engaging, overseeing and supervising any additional volunteer ushers needed for an event.
  • Supervising all coat check and valet personnel.
  • Attend regular production meetings to ensure clear communication between production and front of house.
  • Responsible for the safety and enjoyment of all patrons during each event.
  • Responsible for collecting and conveying information from the Front of House to all relevant personnel.
  • Act as primary contact for all university users of the Weidner Center for non-performance events.
  • Oversee the planning, staffing, set-up and execution of university events held in front of house and/or non-performance university activities.
  • Further develop a sustainable student worker program.
  • Hire and facilitate training for PEEPs in Production, Administration and Patron Services.
  • Supervise PEEPs in Patron Services.
  • Working with Event and Program Manager and Production Manager, oversee scheduling of PEEPs in all functions of the building.


  • High School Diploma at time of application 
  • 5 years of experience 

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Experience in an education environment

Conditions Of Appointment

This position will include required evening and weekend work during events. 

Position is a full-time Academic Staff appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary range of $42,000-$46,000.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
