Working Title:  Head Women's Softball Coach

Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Director of Athletics and is Responsible for all aspects of running and maintaining a successful NCAA Division I women’s softball program.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a competitive intercollegiate softball program within the Horizon League.
  • Provide technical expertise and utilize sound coaching methods aimed at improving the athletic performance of student-athletes.
  • Plan and supervise in-season and out-of-season practice sessions, team and individual.
  • Oversee conduct and performance of all assistant coaches and support staff.
  • Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes to assure they meet performance standards of the University and NCAA.
  • Recruitment of quality student-athletes.
  • Work with coaching staff in talent assessment, recruiting, database management, letter system, writing schedule, official and unofficial campus visit, phone calls, summer league, high school and junior college games evaluations.
  • Frequent Travel during fall and summer months.
  • Assist with the softball program administration tasks which include but not limited to budget management, fundraising, summer camp administration, team travel arrangements, scheduling of competitions, traveling with team, and staff development.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree at time of application
  • Either head coaching experience at any collegiate level or assistant coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division rules and regulations
  • Ability to teach and instruct the sport of softball, including assessment of skills
  • Experience operating with budget restrictions and guidelines


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in a higher education, NCAA level coaching environment

Conditions of Appointment

Team and individual travel will be required. Nights and weekends will be required beyond a typical work day.

Position is a full-time Limited appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s).  A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).  In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the university does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.

Salary

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
