Essential Job Functions

The Department of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay invites applications for a program Lecturer position in Social Work, with primary responsibility to the MSW Program. Applicants with commitment to strengths-based generalist social work practice and the profession's knowledge, values, and skills are highly encouraged to apply.

The Social Work program has a strong team emphasis, which includes team teaching, offers a competency-based education with a strengths perspective, and takes a proactive stance valuing diverse and inclusive perspectives.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Teach MSW courses in the areas of program evaluation and advanced field, along with other BSW and MSW courses, utilizing a variety of teaching and learning methods with diverse adult learners.
  • Advance equity and social justice in the classroom and community.
  • Commit to generalist and advanced generalist social work practice.
  • Develop and implement sound teaching lessons from an andragological perspective.
  • Teach face-to-face and online.
  • Use APA citation style and Microsoft and course platform software.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge, value, and skill base for social work in an understandable and applied manner.
  • Advise students.
  • Contribute to the ongoing accreditation efforts of the BSW and MSW Programs.
  • Attend all Social Work program faculty and Admissions Committee meetings.
  • Perform service to the unit, and contribute to its ongoing development.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited institution at time of application.
  • Two years of post-MSW social work practice experience
  • Documentation of Wisconsin certification/licensing or indication of eligibility and intention of obtaining certification/licensing


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior BSW- or MSW-level social work teaching experience, including the utilization of distance learning technologies
  • Five years of post-MSW social work practice experience
  • Experience working in culturally specific programs and/or AODA
  • Wisconsin AODA certification or licensure
  • Experience conducting program evaluations
  • Knowledge of the health and human/social services delivery network in northeast Wisconsin

Conditions of Appointment

Travel to field and course sites required.  May include teaching courses on evenings and/or weekends to meet program needs.

Position is a full-time, 9-month, instructional Academic Staff appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary

Salary range of $50,000-$53,000
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
