Position Information

Working Title:  Progressive Business Development Specialist
UW System Title:  Outreach Specialist

Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Area Director of Continuing Professional Education and will identify new workforce and professional development programs and other innovative educational needs and opportunities for business and industry and other targeted constituencies. This position will focus on priorities, objectives, marketing and outreach vehicles as they relate to all four campus locations to ensure adequate capacity for program support and instruction. In addition, this position will participate in regional and statewide networks to collaborate with business and industry representatives, professional colleagues, educational agencies, campus academic and administrative units, and other partners on workforce issues, professional development, educational needs, and community economic development.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs assessments and market research to identify educational needs and trends to create high quality, revenue-generating programs and develop pathways for the growth.
  • Establish leads and new programs for workforce and professional development programs for business and industry and other targeted constituencies by building industry collaborations throughout the region.
  • Build solid cross-functional relationships with business and industry representatives, professional colleagues, educational agencies, campus academic and administrative units, and other partners.
  • Assist with marketing, promotional materials, website updates, site venues, media, and other program logistics.
  • Monitor budget to ensure correct financial account designations, approved authorizations, fiscal accountability and sustainability.
  • Make decisions, negotiate, create proposals and assist in all aspects of programming and delivery of those programs.
  • Research and seek out alternative funding sources and opportunities to expand resources and supplement program revenue base.
  • Align goals and objectives with academic and strategic plan of university.
  • Promote the Division of Continuing Education and Community Engagement through related initiatives throughout the 16 county region.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, project management, adult education, or related field, at time of application
  • 3 years of experience in the development and management of self-supported, revenue-generating programs
  • Experience with developing and sustaining business relationships
  • Strong fiscal management, organizational, and computer skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in business, marketing, project management, adult education or related field
  • 5 years of experience in the development and management of self-supported, revenue-generating programs
  • Experience in organizational development and/or project management
  • Knowledge of current issues in adult and continuing education

Conditions Of Appointment

Frequent travel throughout region for business development required.

Position is a full-time (100%) Academic Staff appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary

Salary range of $55,406 - $59,000
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
