Position Information

Working Title:  School Social Work Coordinator
UW System Title:  Administrative Program Specialist 

Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Chair of the Social Work program and is a 9-month academic year position with additional limited summer work associated with School Social Work Coordinator duties. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the School Social Work (SSW) Program at UW-Green Bay and collaborating with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to implement their School Based Mental Health Professionals (SBMHP) project. In addition, this position will teach courses in the BSW and MSW Programs at both the Green Bay and Wausau locations.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Recruit students and local education areas to increase number of school social workers in Wisconsin schools. 
  • Provide on-site and virtual supervision and consultation to school social work interns.
  • Maintain communication with DPI, including contract negotiations and evaluation reports. 
  • Provide trainings and/or orientation related to school social work. 
  • Build networks between UWGB and local education areas as well as between UWGB and professional organizations such as Wisconsin School Social Work Association (WSSWA). 
  • Teach courses specific to school social work and other courses as assigned. 
  • Advise students interested in pursuing school social work licensure.
  • Attend social work faculty meetings, ad hoc meetings. 
  • Participate in university-wide employment requirements.


  • Master's degree in Social Work at time of application 
  • 5 years of experience 
  • Wisconsin School Social Worker license 

  • Prior experience in administration and/or program development 
  • Knowledge of the local education areas in central and northern Wisconsin 
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, anti-racism and anti-oppression practices

Conditions Of Appointment

Travel to local education areas throughout northern and central Wisconsin, and between the UW-Green Bay and Wausau UW-Stevens Point campuses is required for this position. Occasional evening and/or weekend work is expected and will be assigned by supervisor as needed. 

Position is a full-time, 9-month, Academic Staff appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary range of $55,000-$58,000.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
