Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Director of Athletics and oversees daily operations of multiple sports programs and the coordination of key administrative functions within areas of responsibility. This position coordinates and oversees all multi-media rights for Phoenix athletics including all corporate sponsorships, radio, TV and digital media. Responsible for revenue generation based upon established sales goals. Oversees external efforts, including: ticket operations, marketing, corporate sales. Assists with strategic athletics planning and execution.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Assists with overall strategic planning efforts for the athletics program including developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing, advertising and promotions plan that will help increase attendance, revenues and exposure for various sports, focusing on men’s and women’s basketball.
  • Provides oversight of multiple administrative areas and department initiatives which may include sports administration and other key functions.
  • Facilitate the financial management of the sponsorships confirming payment and reconciliation of the agreements.
  • Responsible for oversight of all corporate sponsorships within GB athletics, including proposal development, management, solicitation and activation. Required to hit established sales goals as determined by the Director of Athletics. Estimated number of partnerships responsible for is 50+.
  • Work in conjunction with external staff to cultivate, solicit, and fulfill sponsors. Work with AD to develop a % of corporate partners/sales goals that are the responsibility of additional Associate AD. Responsibility includes taking the lead with cultivation, proposal development, sales and relationship management/fulfillment.
  • Serves as a liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups representing the interests of the athletic department.
  • Develop comprehensive proposals that involve multiple external options to maximize donor/sponsor giving including phoenix fund, tickets, and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Ensures compliance with department policies as well as bylaws, rules, regulations, and interpretations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and all applicable conference with which the institution may be affiliated.
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.
  • Oversight and liaison for gameday marketing staff including event activation, sponsor promotions.


  • Demonstrated successful sales experience
  • Understanding of athletic multi-media rights and all deliverable media
  • Demonstrated self-starter that is capable of high-volume sales calls and visits and building long-term partnerships
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building proposals and being able to deliver comprehensive giving strategies tailored to goals of each business

  • Demonstrated traditional media, digital and other non-traditional media experience in developing and selling integrated marketing partnerships
  • Experience with adobe creative suite and creating sales proposals using a variety of platforms

Conditions Of Appointment

This position requires a varying schedule. Nights and weekends will be required in order to meet the needs of the department. Travel with assigned sport programs will be required. Must be insurable.

Position is a full-time Academic Staff appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).


The UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The UW System also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
