Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Chair of M.S. Sport, Exercise, and Performance Pyschology and the Chair of Psychology and networks, supports recruiting for, and assists in the day-to-day administration of one or more academic programs that involve multiple entities to establish and grow the quality and effectiveness of the assigned academic program(s). 

The Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology (SEPP) Internship Coordinator has responsibility for the overall planning and coordination of the SEPP internships. Main duties include handling administrative tasks related to internships, initiating and maintaining communications with internship sites, supervising and mentoring student-interns, and providing consultation to internship supervisors.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains networks to assist in improvement and development of internship and service projects.
  • Represents the program at internal and external events to advocate for cooperative jobs, internships, and scholarships from local community and national partners and organizations.
  • Evaluates internship and service projects effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for the internship and service projects planning.
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains networks to assist in improvement and development of internship and service projects. 
  • Serves as an internship supervisor to engage in weekly supervision meetings/classes, reviews internship materials, and provides direct observation of interns.
  • Places students in appropriate internship sites and orients them to the process and requirements in collaboration with the faculty. 


  • Master's degree at time of application
  • 2 years of experience in the field of mental performance in sport or performance domains
  • Possess the Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification, be an approved mentor through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, or be eligible to be a CMPC or approved mentor within one year

  • Master's degree in Sport/Performance Psychology, Psychology, or a Sport-related field 
  • Experience in a higher education environment
  • Experience working with diverse groups of athletes and performers

Conditions Of Appointment

Occasional travel and non-traditional work hours (e.g., evenings and weekends) required.

Position is a part-time (50%) Academic Staff appointment.  This position may have the option to work on-campus or a hybrid schedule subject to approved telecommuting request.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Hourly salary of $24.04 (approximately $25,000 per year for the 50% appointment).

This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).


The UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
