Position Information

Working Title:  Union Facilities Technician
UW System Title:  Facilities Repair Worker-Advanced

Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Associate Director – Union Operations. The Union Facilities Technician is a member of the University Union operations staff with the primary responsibility of maintaining the University Union & Dining equipment, furniture, and building facilities. This position will perform proper preventative maintenance, building & equipment repairs and assist in the replacement of items as needed. This position will work to create a safe and inclusive environment for all UW Green Bay students where all feel a sense of place and pride.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Manage all needed maintenance and repair of the specialized commercial kitchen equipment, furniture, building systems, rooms and spaces
  • Support building operations that provide assistance to visitors with accessibly needs including entrances, bathrooms, food service area, and offices
  • Coordinate with campus Facilitates personnel and outside contractors to ensure equipment is in good working order at all times
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs utilizing the TMA and recommend replacement as needed based on useful, equipment effectiveness, and efficiency
  • Perform common work on University Union facilities (patching, finishing & painting)
  • Ensure the RO and Water Softening systems are in good working order maintaining and management filter replacements, salt supplies, and all necessary equipment adjustments
  • Perform routine facility inspections
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all existing equipment
  • Periodically review the Union’s emergency systems and work with vendors to ensure proper working conditions
  • Coordinate elevator preventative maintenance & annual inspections for Union
  • Document equipment service history and maintain proper repair logs
  • Perform preventative maintenance on general building equipment systems
  • Ensure the University Union Dock area is kept clean and not used for long term storage, including the outside of the facility
  • Coordinate Union service agreements with vendors to ensure efficient and effective operations through equipment life cycles
  • Troubleshoot, escalate, and document issues according to established policies and procedures
  • Assist Union leadership with support for internal building project planning and execution
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area where equipment, tools and parts are inventoried and cataloged
  • Maintain a current list of vendors and vendor contacts
  • Utilize appropriate tools to repair and maintain standard machinery, equipment, and University Union property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
  • Identify any building safety issues and work to address concerns in a timely fashion

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent at time of application
  • 3 or more years of professional work experience in building operations, facility management, custodial care, and equipment repair
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a valid driver's license upon appointment
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver items up to 100 lbs alone or with the assistance of others
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time and be able to walk around the building

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Professional experience working in a University of College environment
  • Experience working with the TMA Systems for managing work orders
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technology
  • Trade experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or Maintenance Tech

Conditions Of Appointment

Position is a full-time (100%) University Staff appointment.  The work hours for this position will be 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.

A criminal conviction investigation and pre-work screen examination will be conducted on the finalist(s).  A six-month probationary period is required for this position. Salary

Hourly salary range of $17.00 to $18.00

This position would earn an additional $0.60 per hour for any weekend hours worked and an additional $0.45 per hour for any hours worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
