"As a proud alumna from UW-Green Bay, it has always been one of my professional and personal goals to work at UW-Green Bay. As a student, I was fortunate to form a great support system of peers, staff and faculty that helped me make it to graduation. I want to give back to the community that believed in me. My passion is to help students from underrepresented backgrounds be successful during their college careers. Returning to UW-Green Bay as a staff member has been a wonderful experience. The campus community is like a close-knit family. Staff and faculty are here to help our students succeed, while also supporting each other. I truly love being part of the Phoenix family."

"UWGB has been the perfect place for me to grow personally and professionally as this is a place that values creativity and innovation."

Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconsin

"I cherish the opportunity to work at an institution where I can think outside the box and create new and innovative learning opportunities for the students and for myself. I don't want to be limited to a narrow area of research or to teach the same courses over and over until I retire. In that regard, UWGB has been the perfect place for me to grow personally and professionally as this is a place that values creativity and innovation. Every time I come out with a new idea, I find the support and encouragement I need to bring it to fruition. I also value the wholesomeness of our students and I find my colleagues and, in general, the people of this area, incredibly friendly. Because of the size of the city of Green Bay, the work/life balance is actually possible!."

"In 2018, when I was thinking of leaving motherland in search of a better place to nest, I dreamed of ‘A Promised Land’ and landed on one of the last stops of Homo-Sapiens where I saw ice-age unfolding Infront of my eyes, where temperature and culture swings between two poles and nature hold the full spectrum of colors. UW-GB is where I realized why M. Gandhid his resident in South Africa, Phoenix, and I saw phoenix rising from ashes taking shapes in life, students, and staff. The great lakes connect this land and UW-GB within and out. Resting on the tail of the Great Lakes UW-GB continues to firm on the ethos that we rise and fall together. Sitting on the horizon of yellow land and the blue sky, UW-GB with its greenness is a true example of collaboration and co-exiting."

"Even though I am an advisor, not a program manager, I was given the freedom to program for our veteran students on campus."
Financial Aid Advisor/Veteran Services
She | Her | Hers
Hometown: Gray, Wisconsin

"When I interviewed for a classified position with UWGB’s admission office in early spring 1999, I was pleasantly surprised to find those interviewing me had been with UWGB for more than 10 years each. This was a great sign that it was a positive place to work. As time went by, I was again surprised at the opportunities available to those who wanted to advance. That is exactly what I did. When I was active duty with the Army, I took advantage of every opportunity I could. I was ecstatic to find I could do the same at UWGB. I completed my bachelor degree in Psych and Human Development and applied for the Financial Aid Advisor/Veteran Certifying Official staff position. Even though I am an advisor, not a program manager, I was given the freedom to program for our veteran students on campus. I have been saying for years I love my job! I love working with students and staff who want to be a part of UW-Green Bay! Most of all I love assisting our country’s heroes and their families with Veteran education benefits."

"I received my Masters degree in Urban Design from the Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning at UCLA in 1983 coming from Ecuador, I made Los Angeles my home. In 1994, I received a PH.D in Urban Planning. I didn't know much about Green Bay nor Wisconsin when I came out here in August of 1994. Wisconsin has been good to me and my students have taught me much about the upper Midwest and urbanism. My professional career has led me to be on the Design committee on Broadway revitalizing the commercial street, transportation commissioner for Green Bay Metro Bus for four years and with my students have worked on many design and planning projects with many communities in Northeast Wisconsin. My research on Latinos in urban Wisconsin and Indigenous Planning has been very rewarding. UWGB has allowed me to grow professionally and has allowed me to take students back home to Ecuador in one of the longest travel courses for the university."

"Working for UWGB is very rewarding, both professionally and personally. The department I work for has provided me with all the resources I need to succeed, and the students at this institution work very hard and are very talented. One thing that surprised me when I first joined UWGB was how diverse my colleagues’ research and teaching interests were; our daily conversations and academic collaborations have enriched my academic life and I’m very grateful for that. Finally, the university’s mission to educate the UWGB community about the importance of constructing diversity and inclusivity on campus is something that resonates powerfully with me."

"I joined UWGB as a faculty in the Professional Program in Education as a mathematics teacher educator. For the last six years, I have enjoyed working with aspiring teachers as we learn what it means to teach mathematics in the 21st century. UWGB students are very respectful, professional and ready to learn. It is a delight to interact with them. Faculty and staff are very collegial, and the environment is very respectful. In addition, UWGB is located in a city that is conducive to bring up a family. There are several school districts within a 15-minutes’ drive, great hospital systems and proximity to an Airport. Consequently, I have enjoyed working and living in Green Bay."

Multicultural Advisor, Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs(MESA)

"I started my UWGB journey with the Office of International Education, working as a Study Abroad Coordinator. I made the switch from foodservice as Study Abroad was my dream job. What I found at UWGB was so much more than employment; I found community, I found friends, I found my passion. After COVID 19 began I was so fortunate to be able to stay on with the university; but in reality, I struck gold when I found where I was always supposed to be, in MESA. UWGB has been the place where I have truly grown both personally and professionally and I could not be more proud to be a part of the Phoenix Family."

"I am happy to report that the "feeling" did not disappoint. I found a professional home, with a home-like tone."
Assistant Professor, Finance

Hometown: Houston, Texas

"During my faculty employment search, which consisted of six final stage interviews across the country, my primary factors for finding an academic home were workplace culture, a vision-based mission, and the presence of courageous and impact-driven leadership. In short, it had to "feel right". Yes, a "feeling" is subjective, however, when the search for that feeling is intentional, that "feel right" becomes an objective measure that is revealed through intuition. Directly following the first discovery call, I said to myself, and shared with family and friends, that UWGB is the place. The reaction across the board was unanimous, "Green Bay??". Yes, UWGB! I am happy to report that the "feeling" did not disappoint. I found a professional home, with a home-like tone."

"At UWGB, I love working in collaboration with students, faculty, and staff. Students' curiosity and devotion for learning inspire me every day, and I enjoy my role as a professor to share my passion for Psychological Science. In classroom, it is always stimulating to have discussions with students about ways in which cultural experiences shape human psychology and behavior. As a principal investigator and the director of UWGB Child's Lab, I love working with student researchers, UWGB faculty researchers, and international collaborators to conduct cutting-edge research in child development. I'm grateful for the opportunities to collaborate with faculty and staff in both teaching and research."

"UWGB affords me the opportunity to have a balanced approach towards my home life and my work in teaching, research, service, and administration."
Associate Professor, Marketing & Management
She | Her | Hers
Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconsin

"As I did my background research on universities to work at, UWGB stood out from the rest because of the many positive changes it’s undergone in the last few years, the beautiful campus, and the University’s dedication to the community. I was very excited to read about UWGB’s sustainability credentials in the form of EMBI and its nick from years ago, “Eco-U”. Additionally, there are faculty across the university engaged in high quality research, the school is a great size and growing steadily, with a wonderfully diverse group of faculty, staff, and students. UWGB affords me the opportunity to have a balanced approach towards my home life and my work in teaching, research, service, and administration. Over the last few years, Green Bay has become my home- I am grateful to finally have reached a place where I am fortunate to be working with wonderful faculty, excellent staff, and amazing students."
