Essential Job Functions
This position reports to the Building & Grounds Manager and inspects, maintains, and repairs specialized equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. This position will assist with construction, design and operational maintenance. The position will also be responsible for the maintenance and repair of general plumbing fixtures and components. In addition, this position performs preventative maintenance door and lock repairs and other seasonal activities as directed.
What You'll Do
This position includes the following responsibilities:
- Repairing and maintaining of general plumbing fixtures and components.
- Performs preventative maintenance and building repairs and other seasonal activities to the campus buildings.
- Utilizes equipment to repair and maintain standard machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
- Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
- Performs routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness.
- Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance.
- Assists with the maintenance, and repair of locksets, doors, keys, and all related hardware issues.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent at time of application
- 2 years of experience in the general plumbing, mechanical, building, and/or doors and lock repair in a commercial maintenance area setting
- Thorough knowledge of tools, equipment and safety methods used in the performance of job
- Basic computer skills including the knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license upon appointment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree or 5 years work experience in a commercial plumbing or maintenance area, including the repair of doors and locks
- Experience in common cause of mechanical failures, structural and mechanical diagnostic and repair procedures
- Knowledge and experience welding and metal cutting tasks
- Strong organization skills and ability to effectively prioritize workloads and maintain accurate records
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Physical strength and stamina to perform required work including being able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, and work on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to climb and work at considerable heights and/or in confined spaces under adverse conditions

Conditions of Appointment
Position is a full-time University Staff appointment. The work hours for this position will be 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A criminal conviction investigation and pre-work screen examination will be conducted on the finalist(s). A six-month probationary period is required for this position. Compensation and Benefits
Minimum hourly rate of $21.00.
This position will earn an additional $0.60 per hour for all weekend hours worked and an additional $0.45 per hour for all hours worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Benefit Details

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
