Essential Job Functions

The Office of Human Resources and Workforce Diversity serves as a strategic partner with the UW-Green Bay campus community to meet the needs of a dynamic and inclusive academic institution. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

The HR Coordinator will directly report to the Employee Relations & Compliance Specialist with dotted line responsibilities to other leaders within the Office of Human Resources & Workforce Diversity. This position will create and maintain human resources (HR) records, coordinate logistics for one or many HR functions and processes various HR specific transactions to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations. Specifically, this position will be responsible for coordination of HR compliance activities, serve as the I-9 coordinator, provide general administrative support in more than one functional area such as records management and recruitment. This position will also serve as the office coordinator to include department budget.

What You'll Do

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Audits and tracks compliance for various HR functions such as performance evaluations, onboarding, off boarding, criminal background checks, and credentialing.
  • Serves as a point of contact to employees, managers, and internal and external stakeholders. Responds to inquiries and escalates more complex issues to the appropriate authorities.
  • Manages the dissemination of HR related communications to various audiences under the direction of leadership.
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for recruitment processes, onboarding activities, payroll functions, and/or other HR related activities.
  • Enters, reviews, and processes HR transactions according to established policies and procedures.
  • Creates and maintains various HR specific reports, databases, and/or records to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and legal rules and regulations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Administrative Services, or related field OR 2 years of directly related professional work experience
  • Working knowledge of desktop hardware and business software programs (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Power Point, and the Internet)
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Flexibility and the willingness to learn new systems, processes, and technological applications and recommend improvements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management or related field
  • Bilingual, preferably in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or Oneida
  • Knowledge of ImageNow, Adobe, Word Press, Kentico and Social Media platforms
  • Working knowledge of Wisconsin Administrative Codes, state statutes, Federal/State laws and regulations, and State of Wisconsin Records Management Guidelines and General Records Schedules for the University of Wisconsin System
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting organizational efforts to create and nurture a diverse and inclusive community

Conditions of Appointment

Position is a full-time University Staff appointment.  The work hours for this position will be 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).  A six-month probationary period is required for this position. In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the University does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly salary range of $20.50 - $22.00. 

This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Benefit Details

The UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. Our benefits package also includes dental, vision, several life insurance options, AD&D and Accident insurance and Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The UW System also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
