Learning Communities

What is a Learning Community?

Learning communities are an opportunity for sophomores to engage in a truly interactive learning experience on a pressing social issue with a small group of 35 students.

Members of the learning community will take a set of linked courses that relate in some way to the theme of their community. In addition, students will engage together and with their learning community instructors in activities such as coffee-shop discussions, campus events, or field trips, and will complete together an integrative hands-on project that utilizes their learning experiences to address the social issue of their community in some way.
