Really Big Prints

Really Big Prints

Really BIGPRINTS!!! 4.0, originally scheduled for summer of 2020 has been rescheduled for July 14-17 2021. As most of the activity is outdoors we feel that by using separate tents, and requiring masks and distancing we can hold RBP safely this summer. Safety protocols will be in effect for all printmakers, their teams, volunteers and spectators.

Really BIGPRINTS!! 4.0 will be July 14-17 2021

Building on the success of Really BIGPRINTS!! in July of 2014, 2016, and 2018 the City of Manitowoc again graciously donated the use of the steamroller for a special 4-‐day printmaking event July 14‐17, 2021 and agreed to mount an exhibit of the prints at the city’s Rahr-‐West Museum of Art in August/September of 2021. Exhibition of the prints from previous years is ongoing. A showcase of work from 2014,2016 and 2018 is currently at the Wausau Center for the Visual Arts. And was recently shown in Milwaukee at Gallery 2622. As in previous years, after the Rahr-West Museum of Art the 2021 prints will also be featured at The Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum for Wayzgoose 2021. After that the prints will move on to other venues TBD. If you are interested in mounting an exhibition of the 2021 prints, or a selection from the previous years – there are currently 93 prints archive and we anticipate adding another 25 to 30 this summer.

Really BIGPRINTS!! thanks the volunteers who came by to help with clean hands, and invites anyone who wants to help out this summer to get in touch. We also thank the City of Manitowoc for use of the streetroller, and showing the prints at the Rahr-West Museum of Art, Hamilton Wood Type Printing Museum for their cooperation, UW-Green Bay Manitowoc Campus for their tolerance, hospitality and the use of the facilities, and Graphic Chemical and Ink of Villa Park, IL for generously discounting the inks. An on-line gallery of the all of the RBP prints can be found on the Really Big Prints Facebook page, and there is more to see at our new web page http://reallybigprints.org/

New for 2021 - RBP Scholarships to promote Equity, Diversity + Inclusion

The Really Big Prints team is committed to hosting an open and welcoming event for all printmakers, especially those who are underrepresented in our community. With that in mind, we are pleased to fund a scholarship for an underrepresented artist to participate in Really Big Prints. The selected artist will be reimbursed up to $500 in costs related to preparing for and participating in the event. Specifically, that's $50 for registration, $200 towards materials, $200 towards travel and lodging, and $50 towards incidentals and food.

All are welcome to apply. In addition to applying for the event as you normally would, artists who wish to be considered for the scholarship should send a short statement (100-200 words) discussing their identity as an underrepresented artist and what participating Really Big Prints might mean to them. Please add this statement to the regular application.

We'll announce the scholarship recipient this spring. We can't wait to print safely with you all in 2021!
