Auditions & Involvement

Children's Theatre at UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus has offered opportunities to be a part of a live theatrical production to hundreds of children since 1993. Currently, Children's Theatre presents a musical in October and a non-musical production in February.

Auditions for Children's Theatre Productions are open to students ages 6-18. For musicals students auditioning are asked to prepare a song that is 1 minute or less from a musical (please bring piano sheet music along with so that you may be accompanied by the musical director on the piano), be prepared to learn a dance combination and participate in a cold reading from the script.

For straight plays, auditionees are asked to perform a memorized monologue or poem as well as be ready to participate in a few improvisational games and read from the provided script.

Monologues for young people.

During the audition process parents and other supporters are asked to wait in the hallway or lobby, unless the student auditioning is under 8 years old, then the decision is up to the auditioner and their family. Auditioning can sometimes be intimidating, but we do our best to keep it a positive experience and low key while still gaining the insight we need. Casting results are usually posted on this website and the Children's Theatre Facebook Page about two days after the final audition date, as stated on the information sheet available at auditions.

Throughout the year, families, organizations and businesses have contributed to the success of this popular program in many ways including:

  • Sponsoring shows through monetary contributions in exchange for program advertisements or "Above the Title" sponsorships.

  • Providing scholarships for actors.

  • Volunteering to build sets, run lights, make costumes and other activities.

  • Donating goods or services for use in productions.
