Digital Marketing Internship

The UW-Green Bay Office of Marketing and University Communication seeks a business administration major with an emphasis in marketing (or similar career path) for a digital marketing internship for the Spring 2020 semester. The Marketing and University Communication digital marketing intern is responsible for assisting the content team to conduct email marketing and evaluate and report data analytics to inform strategic content decisions. This position will provide 10 hours/week (3 credits) during the school year and will be coordinated with the Digital Marketing Specialist.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Email marketing – Assist in populating, formatting, testing and deploying mailings; develop strategies for list quality and growth; analyze list data and user metrics to report on list health, campaign success and identify opportunities for engagement.
  • Web content quality control – Regularly check key pages for content quality issues including broken links, spelling/grammar errors and stale content. Use Google Analytics and Google Search Console to identify errors. Document and submit to see they are resolved.
  • Content performance analysis – Compile a monthly analysis for the content team using Google Analytics and MailChimp audience engagement metrics to inform content strategy.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – Analyze the UW-Green Bay website, research key phrases and create recommendations for how to best structure and develop content for improved search engine ranking and organic site traffic.
  • Search Engine Results Page (SERP) Marketing – assist in developing a content calendar and creating google and Bing posts. Regularly evaluate SERP position for top pages and research best practices for improving impressions.
  • Campaign Tracking and Reporting – assist in campaign link building to track digital marketing efforts with Google UTM parameters and using Google Analytics to report on the success of the campaign.  
  • Administrative Support – support the content team as needed in tasks that may include brainstorming, coordinating, planning, content generation and implementation of various marketing initiatives as they relate to promoting the University.

 Qualifications:

  • Sophomore-senior status studying business administration with an emphasis in marketing or with a demonstrated interest in digital marketing
  • Awareness of web analytics and digital marketing tools
  • Proactive and confident self-starter able to work with minimal direction
  • Strong analytical skills and the desire to learn more about how to derive actionable insights from data
  • Professional, cooperative and thoughtful, with a drive to learn, develop skills and grow
  • Computer knowledge, proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Experience with web editing and HTML formatting is preferred
  • Awareness of web analytics and digital marketing tools is highly preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to complete work by scheduled deadlines
  • Ability to work 10 hours/week (3 credits) during the school year
  • Professional, cooperative and thoughtful, with a drive to learn, develop skills and grow
  • All Marketing and University Communication student employees are required to take at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits per semester with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

Compensation:

Remuneration or monetary compensation will not be available for the Spring 2020 semester. Compensation for the first semester includes internship credits toward graduation and the opportunity to learn through real-life experience in a functioning marketing office, build a résumé and receive mentoring from professional marketers. Provided approval and budget allows, the student will be paid hourly for ten hours of work per week in the second semester (Fall 2020).
