Web Design Internship

The UW-Green Bay Office of Marketing and University Communication seeks a design arts major (or similar career path) for a web design internship for the Fall 2022 semester. The Marketing and University Communication web design intern is responsible for assisting the web redesign acceleration team to design and develop web layouts and overall web user experience. This is a virtual position, conducted remotely using Microsoft Teams. It will provide 10 hours/week (3 credits) during the school year and will be coordinated with the Web Operations Manager.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Concepting creative ideas for diverse clients across the University.
  • Assist in creating website layouts using standard web and user experience practices.
  • Design and develop the overall navigation flow, layout of specific pages, and creation of individual graphic elements.
  • Quality assurance testing that all design elements and pages work as expected within a variety of browser types and screen settings.
  • Edit formatting to create desired layout and styling within a content management system.
  • Update and edit web content including text, links and images.
  • Maintain style consistency, producing designs in compliance with style and graphical web standards.
  • Collaborate virtually with the web redesign acceleration team to plan and develop site content, style and layout.
 

Qualifications:

  • Sophomore-senior status studying design arts or computer science or with a demonstrated interest in web design
  • Strong artistic skills in design and layout
  • Computer knowledge, proficiency in graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and other visual design tools.
  • Experience performing web searches and using web pages and general awareness of web layout and usability
  • Creative and open to new ideas.
  • Professional, cooperative and thoughtful, with a drive to learn, develop skills and grow
  • Experience with web editing and HTML/CSS formatting is preferred, but not required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to complete work by scheduled deadlines
  • Ability to work 10 hours/week (3 credits) during the school year
  • Professional, cooperative and thoughtful, with a drive to learn, develop skills and grow
  • All Marketing and University Communication student employees are required to take at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits per semester with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

Compensation:

Get paid $10/hour while you earn internship credits toward graduation. Learn through real-life experience as part of an online marketing team, build a résumé and receive mentoring from professional marketers. If it is mutually agreeable, the student will stay on for subsequent semester(s).
