Phuture Phoenix

5th Grade Campus Visit

What is Phuture Phoenix Day?

Phuture Phoenix Days were held October 13 & 15, 2015.

The Phuture Phoenix program, based at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, is a coordinated effort to inspire academic success and alert children to educational opportunities.

Involvement in Phuture Phoenix Begins With...

  1. Training UW-Green Bay students as role models
At the beginning of each academic year, students are recruited through campus outreach endeavors. UW-Green Bay students are trained in the procedures and requirements for becoming a Phuture Phoenix role model.
  2. Inviting Fifth Graders From Local Public Schools
Fifth graders from local public schools are invited to participate in Phuture Phoenix. Selected schools receive materials from UW-Green Bay early in September.
  3. Pre-visit (Brown County Schools)
UW-Green Bay role models visit in-town fifth grade classrooms to introduce themselves and talk about the Phuture Phoenix field trip.
  4. Phuture Phoenix Day at UWGB
All invited fifth grade students and their teachers are bussed to UW-Green Bay on the scheduled day to tour the campus, participate in planned activities, and get to know their role models.  Each pair of UW-Green Bay role models is assigned to one group of 7 to 10 fifth graders.
  5. Post-visit (Brown County Schools)
UW-Green Bay role models will visit the in-town fifth grade classrooms during the week following the Phuture Phoenix field trip to answer questions and initiate ongoing contact with fifth grade students.  Role models are encouraged to make consistent contact with their students throughout the school year (they will pre-arrange any school visits with teachers).
