Phuture Phoenix

Phuture Phoenix Community Service

Students who are not pursuing a teaching degree are encouraged to be involved in Phuture Phoenix.  UWGB students can participate in the Phuture Phoenix field trip day or provide tutoring/mentoring services in local middle and high schools and earn college credit in the process.

Fall Semester

One Credit

  • attend a one hour training session regarding the campus visit experience
  • visit assigned elementary school before and after the campus visit day
  • be a “tour guide” for a day
  • make at least 3 contacts with your assigned students
  • be a positive role model to 5th graders
  • students must track and verify hours spent with children

Two Credits

All the involvement that 1 credit has, plus:

  • 15 hours working with 6 - 12th grade students in our tutoring program.
  • will require a background check & TB test -$35.00 ($55 if lived oustide WI in past 3 years)
  • a log of hours will be required

Three Credits

All requirements for 1 and 2 credits, plus:

  • 30 hours working with 6 - 12th grade students in our tutoring program.

Spring Semester

One Credit

  • Enroll in EDUC 295, Section 6
  • be a positive role model
  • students must track hours spent with children
  • Minimum of 15 hours (about 1 hour per week) working with 6 -12th grade students in our tutoring program.
  • Will require a background check and TB test - $35.00 ($55 if lived outside WI in past 3 years)

Two Credits

All the involvement that 1 credit has, plus:

  • 30 hours (about 2 hours per week) working with 6 -12th grade students in our tutoring program

Three Credits

All the involvement that 1 credit has, plus:

  • 45 hours (about 3 hours per week) working with 6 -12th grade students in our tutoring program
