Why should I attend?

Anyone wishing to practice social work in the State of Wisconsin must pass the Association of Social Work Board’s (ASWB) examination for the category of credential for which they are applying. These training sessions will prepare participants for the ASWB Bachelors Examination (formerly Basic Level Exam) for BSW participants, as well as the ASWB Master’s Examination, ASWB Advanced Generalist Exam and the ASWB Clinical Exam for APSW and LCSW participants.

Participants will have an opportunity to examine areas of further development and study needed in order to pass the required ASWB credentialing examination. Using the actual ASWB group practice examination, this training examines the critical thinking needed across subject areas. This valuable training will cover credentialing basics, including the steps toward accreditation, resources available to you and information about the exams themselves. At the end of each training session, participants will create a plan for self-study.

Training Objectives

Participants will:

  • Learn the requirements related to social work regulation and licensure in Wisconsin
  • Study and apply the format and content of the ASWB credentialing examinations
  • Develop a study plan to prepare for taking the ASWB examinations
