"Travel Funds for International Forest Ecology Workshop"

Grant in Aid of Research

Final Report: "This long overdue report summarizes the outcome of a travel award from the Research Council that was granted to me in 2012. I used the funding to support (in part) a trip to attend the 97th Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of America (ESA) in Portland, Oregon, and to meet with other forest ecologists involved in the Smithsonian Institution’s SIGEO network of long term forest dynamics plots. I presented a poster paper at Session 9, and co-authored 3 other papers presented by others during the week-long conference. During this period, Dr. Amy Wolf and I had productive meetings with other SIGEO partners, ultimately leading to funding for our research during summer 2013 and to 2 scientific papers, one just recently accepted by the leading ESA journal, Ecology. Funds from the Research Council were used to offset registration fees, air fare, and lodging costs while in Portland, in combination with funding from an external research grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Thank you for providing travel funds to make this trip possible."
